Next steps

We're here to help you grow in your faith, so we designed three core classes that will put you on a pathway to do just that:

  • Essentials 101: Knowing God - New believers and those studying the Bible for the first time will benefit from this core class that meets every Sunday at 10 AM in Meeting Room 3.
  • Essentials 201: Loving God - Get closer to God while also gaining a deeper understanding of the Word. This class meets quarterly. Look for details in your Guide or check open registrations to sign up for the next one.
  • Essentials 301: Serving God - Find out what your God-given gifts are, and how to use them to serve others in ministry. This class meets quarterly. Look for details in your Guide or check open registrations to sign up for the next one.

Other key next steps include:

Attend events

We offer a variety of events and classes where you can learn more about God, develop friendships with other believers and grow in your faith. Check your monthly Guide for opportunities.

You can also view all open registrations and sign up for a specific class or event, or browse events by ministry, using the menu on the right. There's something for all ages.

Be baptized

get baptizedOnce you've accepted Jesus as your Savior, being baptized in water typically follows. Baptism is not only a public proclamation of your faith in Christ, but also symbolic of dying to your old way of thinking and living, and becoming a new person.

The third Wednesday of every month, we offer the opportunity to take this next step. If you want to participate, arrive at the choir room by 6:30 PM and talk over your decision with a pastor. It's best to wear dark-colored clothing, and you'll want to bring a change of clothes and a towel.

Join a small group

join a small groupSmall groups are exactly what they sound like, a small group of people meeting together. It's in small groups where you connect with others and grow in your faith. We call it belonging and becoming. There are many groups to choose from, based on a common interest, age or life stage. You can browse our online directory, or stop by the small group lounge in the main lobby to find the group that's right for you.

Give

giveWe believe in giving generously and cheerfully, just as the Bible instructs (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9). We also give as an act of worship and because God first gave to us (John 3:16).

The Bible teaches that our baseline standard for giving is the tithe — contributing 10 percent of our income to the church. Giving beyond your tithe is referred to as an offering. You can use a contributions envelope to designate your giving. We also provide a secure place to give online. Your contributions are invested directly into our ministries. We also support local, national and global outreach efforts to share the life-changing story of Jesus.

We pledge to honor your giving with faithful stewardship, ethical business practices and full accountability as financial integrity is something we take very seriously. Church members are provided with a financial report at an official business meeting each year, and audited statements are made available upon request.

Volunteer

volunteerGod has given each of us a purpose and specific strengths (1 Corinthians 12) that we can use to reach out and share Christ's love with others. At Westover Hills we have a variety of ministry teams and outreach programs where you can do that.

Grow Again

It seems like only yesterday we opened our Family Life Center, which was built to make room for children. Now their classrooms and nurseries are full. The same is true for our auditorium and meeting rooms. If you attend one of our more popular Sunday morning services at 10 and 11:45 AM, you've seen the need: every weekend we're turning people away.

Here We Grow ... Again is a three-year initiative focused on growth — ours and yours. While we grow in square footage, to make room for new guests, we want every person in the congregation to grow spiritually and use that maturity to impact the lives of the many who will come our way. Are you ready? It's time for us to grow again ... together.
