Our story
In 1986, Jim and Denise Rion started the church in a small rented space with just a few people attending the first service. When they outgrew that location and began searching for a place to build, Pastor Jim felt led to an undeveloped area of town named Westover Hills, leaving many to wonder why he'd build a church in the middle of nowhere.
Only God knew the area would explode and become one of the fastest growing zip codes in the nation. As a result, Westover Hills has grown into a thriving, diverse congregation with a weekly attendance of more than 4,500, often making Outreach Magazine's annual list of the Fastest Growing U.S. Churches.
To keep up with the growth, Westover Hills opened a new Worship Center in 1999 and a Family Life Center in 2006, and in the fall of 2010 launched Westover Hills Español, a fifth weekend service in Spanish.
Early 2011 brought a new chapter of growth, with plans for expanded facilities and development of the 40 acres the church acquired over the years. You can follow our growth at grow.whag.net and keep up with the latest news on our blog.
